Project abstract: The BLM Cedar City Field Office in cooperation with the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) and private landowners propose a multiple phase project that would remove invasive tamarisk with a top down approach, which would eliminate seed source by removing invasive species first from the upper portions and then removing invasive species from the lower portions of the Quichapa Wetland and Vegetation Enhancement Project Area. Additionally, areas of the wetland will be identified for enhancement through various means (i.e., geo-technical work, impoundments, water control structures, native plant seedings, etc.) in order to provide local wildlife and migratory birds with beneficial habitat. It is expected that the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and DWR would attempt to work with the private landowners adjacent to BLM lands to remove and control non-native vegetation.
